The course assumes the student is a beginner and starts With a Health and Safety briefing and an explanation of the tools and how to use them. The aim is to make a round wastepaper or berry basket.

A 3 through 3 continental base is made under instruction and this is then set aside to dry for the next basket and we use a pre made and dried base for the basket we will make today. We will stake this up with 24 stakes. A 3 rod pull down wale will be used for our upset using 6 rods in total. We will slew the sides, then we will repeat the wale stroke at the top using 6 rods and level the basket before finishing the top with the asymmetric weaving and trac border it will be left as a bowl or wastepaper basket depending on the height the student was able to get to.
