This four-day workshop will begin by exploring the broad and fascinating process of screenprinting to create bold, vibrant and unique prints on both fabrics and papers. We will be experimenting with the same Screenprint methods used by artists such as Andy Warhol and Peter Blake in their striking and distinct artworks.

We will learn, step by step, how to use found plants, flowers and grasses as stencils to expose onto screens using photographic emulsion and a light source. I will demonstrate how to print these nature inspired screens to achieve rich, layered final pieces. We will also be printing with various patterned screens and textures.

Throughout this workshop you will be learning how to layer your prints. We will be focussing on the registration, placement and positioning of these various layers to achieve a balanced and effective composition. We will use collage to further enhance our imaginative multi-layered artworks.

In the second part of the workshop we will be developing and working into our screenprints, experimenting with collage and mixed media to really make our prints unique and captivating.

By the end of the course you will have a body of work containing finished prints on both fabrics and papers to take away with you. We will be printing both A4 and A3 size. If you have any papers or fabrics that you would like to bring along to print onto then please do.

Beginners are very welcome.
