Come and get lost in the ancient technique of marbling, where inks float on the surface of a liquid size and manipulated to create intricate patterns. Marbling is a fantastically mesmerising process and is renowned for its meditative qualities which have been proven to lower stress levels!

This wonderful one-day course is suitable for all levels and abilities. The course will take you through the history of marbling, introduce you to the tools and techniques used with this craft and enable you to experiment with dyes to create a variety of traditional and contemporary paper marbled designs. You will start by trialling different designs onto smaller paper samples and as your confidence grows, produce approx. 5-7 x A4 designs.

You will learn on your own marbling tray throughout the day and students will have the opportunity to transfer these designs into unique greetings cards, prints or as a base for covering books or journals.

Please bring with you:

• Apron
• Latex gloves if you have sensitive skin
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• 3-4 clean jam jars for mixing individual colours

The tutor will provide:

• All materials for marbling including: dyes, tools, trays, carrageenan
• 5 x blank cards and envelopes each
• 5 x A4 papers each
