Whether you are relatively new to the joys of patchwork or an experienced quilter, this course is the perfect introduction to designing your own quilt.

Christine has devised a simple but effective scheme for designing your own patchwork that will develop your skills and will result in a quilt unique to you, a ‘My Way Quilt’. Using simple squares and stripes of varying scales, you will create a fabulous panel, it’s up to you how large.

The process is simple but effective and just a bit addictive.

You will learn how to create and assemble your design, how to use a rotary cutter and quilting ruler, how to add the backing and the wadding, how to bind your quilt and quilt it using knots.

The ability to use a sewing machine and stitch a straight line is a necessary skill.

Please bring:

  • A selection of 100% non-stretchy cottons: If these can be up cycled from garments all the better (but not crucial!) shirts, skirts, dresses, a good mix of patterns: something with a small pattern, something bold, something formal eg stripes and or checks and anything else you have
  • A piece of fabric big enough to use as a backing
  • Wadding: Christine recommends a thin, 100% cotton version rather than polyester
  • A rotary cutter: Christine recommends 45mm diameter OLFA, available on Ebay
  • Quilting ruler: 6ins x 24ins also available on eBay
  • Sewing threads
  • Fabric scissors
  • Cutting mat A3 or A2
  • Box of pins
