Click Here to Add me to the waiting listIn this course you will study medieval tiles from different abbeys and churches and the way they have aged. You will also study images of neglected ancient sites and observe how nature takes over, vines and wild flowers climbing over stones and tiled floors. Using textile techniques you will then echo the colours and textures we can see.
Using medieval inspired stencils and transfer foiling you will lay down some base pattern to machine embroider and embellish. They will be chopped up to make the tiles. Using soluble material you will machine embroider vines and leaves and create embroidered wild flowers and grasses. We can have fun making insects and butterflies to add later.
Finally we can take time to make a fabulous medieval tiled floor to decorate with our embroidered components or we can make a series of smaller pieces to frame up as gifts for friends and family
