Landscape will be our inspiration to create a panoramic folded book form or scroll using monoprinting and add further embellishment with stitch, by machine or hand.

On day one you will explore monoprinting to create shapes and marks in the landscape.

On day two you will then add colour to these with drawing inks and add further details with stitch.

Monoprinting is a technique where acrylic paint and medium is rolled thinly onto an acrylic sheet, fabric is lightly placed on top and then drawn lines are gently applied allowing ink to be picked up on the reverse. When dry dye based inks will be painted on top to add colour.

You will work on the fronts of the books or scrolls if students wish to back them with plain fabric that is more likely to be completed at home, but it will depend on the individual. You will also produce a number of samples during the two days.
