Course Description

“How does the Meadow flower its bloom unfold? Because the lovely little flower is free down to its root, and in that freedom bold.“

– William Wordsworth

This workshop was inspired by the painting A Field of Alfalfa, Saint-Denis by Georges Seurat, which hangs in the Scottish National Gallery. His method of painting in small strokes (the ‘pointillist‘ technique) allowed him to juxtapose contrasting and complementary colours to created a vivid and vibrant shapes. During this course you will learn Richard's technique, which combines fabric collage with both machine and hand embroidery to produce rich and sumptuous effects.
