Letters, words and text will be your starting points. They can be seen as something purely abstract, as shapes and forms, or as pieces of text that mean something personal to you. You will work with hot wax resist - batik, as well as other forms of resist including oil pastels, and acrylic paint used in conjuction with stencils with drawing inks. You may choose to work onto existing pieces of text such as old book pages, packaging such as paper bags with lettering on, tissue, or wrapping paper in fact any paper that has text on.
Suitable For
This course is suitable for beginners or improvers alike.
Requirements List
- An apron
- Hairdryer
- Pritt type glue stick
- Gloves
- Scissors
- Papers with text on them ie book pages
- Paper packaging
- Printed tissue paper etc.
- Newspaper if you have any for removing the wax.
- Lettering inspiration i.e. a letter, poem, story
Materials Cost
There will be a charge of £4 to cover the cost of acrylic paints, oil pastels, inks, wax, tissue paper, cartridge paper and all equipment. This is payable directly to the tutor.
