Course Description

This week we will take medieval reliquaries, icons and shrines as inspiration for the design of your own triptych. You will make the basic folding structure from foam core and use tissue paper to texture the surface. You will then create a central motif, perhaps a tree or plant, using free machine embroidery and further stitched elements, maybe stems and leaves, for the side panels, made using machine cords and employing soluble fabric. Other papercraft and mixed media techniques will be used as required to add further decoration and to complete the project.

The finished piece could stand, or it could be wall hung.
