Course Description

Loose yourself for a day in the ancient technique of marbling. A place where inks float on the surface of a liquid size and are manipulated to create intricate patterns.

TThe course will take you through the history of marbling, introduce you to the tools and techniques used with this craft and enable you to experiment with dyes to create a variety of traditional and contemporary paper marbled designs. You will start by trialling different designs onto smaller paper samples and as your confidence grows, produce approx.: 4 x A4 designs. 

You will learn on your own marbling tray throughout the day and students will then have the opportunity to transfer these designs into unique greetings cards and hand made booklets or journals.

• Apron
• Latex gloves if you have sensitive skin
• Scissors, ruler, pencil
• Glue stick
• Hair dryer

Material Costs:

There will be a charge of £18 to cover the cost of materials listed below. This is payable directly to the tutor.

• All materials for marbling including; dyes, tools, trays and carrageenan
• 4 x blank white cards and envelopes each
• 4 x A4 papers
• Tools for making booklets
