Weaving on a Wheel
Tuesday 6th August 2024 for 2 days — Cost: £120
Tutor: Polly Woolstone
Bookings for this course have now ended
This is a two day introduction to needle weaving; a form of drawn thread work that involves darning or re-weaving patterns on bare warp or weft threads.
Using a circular frame students will be given general information and tips on the weaving technique, before they begin to experiment with different weaving stitches to create colourful and textural pieces. Using colours on a theme such as autumn you will set a tone for the entire piece of work, alternatively, just use what you can find to weave a rainbow of colour. You might also choose to work in neutral colours and dye them later.

- As much wool/yarn/raffia/ torn strips of fabric (such as sari silks or home made strips) etc. as you can find, beg or buy. Try and get a range of thicknesses and finishes

- Large beads if you have them (wooden ones are nice as they can also be dyed to suit your colour theme)
