Bookings for this course have now ended

Do you have necklaces and bracelets from the past that need to be recycled, restrung, resized or remodelled? Perhaps you have wanted to try some simple jewellery making but are unsure about starting if there are going to be expensive set up costs?

This course will give you ideas and skills in jewellery making techniques that don’t involve chemicals, drills or saws. You will learn how work with beads, knotting or threading between them to create pieces of jewellery or to rework ones that you already have.

As the course progresses you will also learn to use Polymer Clay, a colourful modelling material that can be cooked in a domestic oven. This will allow you to include beads of your own design to make your unique pieces of jewellery. You are also encouraged to bring any broken pieces of threaded jewellery and your tutor will help with advice on how to restore them or incorporate them into new pieces.

In addition to working with strung items of jewellery, you will be given an introduction to jewellery making wires and experience in making earrings.

All of the techniques that you will learn can be developed in your home without the need for many tools. Guidance will be given on what you will need to move forward and the best places to buy tools and materials.

Materials Cost

£20 per person.
