During this one-day workshop you will learn two African craft techniques while exploring the quiet power of making together. In the morning you will be guided through a beading technique, beginning with a 12-bead ball from which you can create a bracelet or necklace. In the afternoon you will make an Ankara bow headdress, learning how to shape and style this bold and beautiful form.
Alongside the making, we will reflect on how traditional craft skills can support a more sustainable and ethical future, and how shared creativity can connect communities across cultures. This workshop is part of an ongoing collaboration between Oxford Brookes University and Molaloche Concepts in Lagos, Nigeria, creating a global craft community that celebrates exchange and inclusivity.
